On Saturday 18th June 2016, Google Adwords announced an Update – Google is now testing an ad format that lets your prospect message you. The aim to launch this ad format is to allow the potential customers to text you. This new ad extension will be similar to “call ad buttons” through which customers can contact us and easily send SMS or Text Messaging to the advertiser.
Google is currently testing this feature and will keep updating as and when the feature gets active, which should be by the end of this year.

On clicking the text messaging icon, it will allow the user to text the company that is advertising on AdWords. When you click the icon, it opens your default messaging app. It prefills the text message with the advertiser’s information.
