Tablet looks to be the future of modern computing; keeping these trends and contemporary demands in mind Google launched its new Android platform specially designed for Tablet PC. Google named the platform as Android 3.0 but for its lovers it is called as HONEYCOMB.
Launched in February 2011, Honeycomb is designed to be fully touch platform and it scores more on most counts. Google has specially designed the operating system for speed crazy audience (who is not). Most people have had many complaints against the previous Android versions about speed and crashing but this time Google has made enough amends to sort them out.
Honeycomb is perfectly fluent and consistent with finger swipes. Consistent performance and fluent user interface gives Honeycomb edge over other OS and it poses a serious challenge to iOS for ipads. Downloading Apps and widget in Android 3.0 enabled tablets are much easier and you have persistent reminder for the status of app downloading in the bottom right of the screen on the Tablet.
Honeycomb user interface is easily customizable but one drawback is you have to long press the empty space to incorporate the changes. Also, Google keeps on releasing newer wallpapers and different animations to provide its customers to customize their Tablets. You can add up to five different screens in Android 3.0.
The most commending features of Android 3.0 are its internet and Email messaging features. Being a product from its creator, Honeycomb comes embedded with the generic mail app. Messages comes to the screen in the formatted manner which takes it far from the league of other operating systems. Inbuilt flash application lends the users an all new experience altogether and makes browsing a fun activity.
Honeycomb supports various media and file formats both for audio and video. Android 3.0 makes it possible for Tablets to use their full screen space for example in smart phones the best view of mails is in the vertical alignment but you can have a refreshing experience in the Honeycomb enabled Tablet PC.

All in all, Honeycomb is the best Tablet OS in its league even giving ipad a run for its money. Though there are more features in the Android 3.0 but only a few features have been discussed above.
